Why opt for a hot composter for your waste management?

Composting is a familiar form of food waste recycling and has been used over the years by many households. However, traditional compost heaps raise some problems because they often require an amount of space that the vast majority of modern gardens will not always shave. They can also be prone to unpleasant smells and can be a magnet for pests and insects. Understandably then, compost heaps are not always a suitable waste management system.. Hot composters are the perfect solution to all of these problems. The Green Johanna is a sturdy garden compost bin which can be securely sealed off from pests whilst keeping any odours inside the unit. As it only measures 90cm wide and about 95cm high it can be discreetly installed almost anywhere.

How does a hot composter work?

Hot composters are designed to be well ventilated garden compost bins and so rely on a mixture of two parts food waste (including cooked or uncooked meat, fruit & vegetables, bones, fish and dairy products) and one part garden waste. This ensures that the compost eventually produced has the perfect texture. After just a few months the deposited food and garden waste has been naturally broken down into wonderful, nutrient rich compost. No chemicals need to be added, therefore, resulting in an environmentally friendly solution for household food waste recycling.
